Maldives for first timers.

If you are planning to visit the Maldives for the first time and looking for some general advice, then this one is for you.

Enchanting Maldives

Enchanting Maldives

Excited for your first time in Maldives. It’s a once in a lifetime experience you will never forget, white sand beaches, blue lagoons and swaying palms will greet you once you step foot into this island country in the middle of the ocean. Words will fail to describe the beauty of the Maldives, it’s arguably the most beautiful place on earth.

For the first time visitor, here are a few tips and tidbits you need to know.

All resorts in the Maldives occupy a whole island, it ranges from 2.5 kms across to 150 meters across, this means that the facilities on the resort you choose will be the only ones you will have access during your stay.

Almost all international flights land in Male international airport, depending on how far your resort is from the airport you will have to take either a seaplane taxi or speedboat. Check with your resort if they provide transfers from the airport and back.

When choosing a resort, price is obviously the main consideration. You also have to think that this is a once in a lifetime experience that might never happen again. It wouldn’t hurt if you spend a little bit more than expected. Most resorts only offer bed and breakfast, cost of meals, drinks etc. maybe high in the resort. Some resorts in the Maldives offer all-inclusive packages, you can only eat in the main restaurant and have to pay extra if you want to try out the other restaurants.

There are a lot of things you can do while on vacation, like snorkeling, scuba diving, catamaran sailing and island hopping. You can even go on a whale and dolphin watching safari.
